Encyclopedia of Western Railroad History, Volume IV: California
Published in Hardcover by Caxton Press (01 April, 1998)
Average review score:

Handy for the RailfanThe amount of work which went into this work is incredible -- Robertson has not only listed every California railroad, but he has also accumulated huge lists of every engine that ran on most of these roads. To give the entries more context, he has included details about U.S. and California history. The only flaw is that he sometimes sends you to other books in the set for details on important California Roads like the AT&SF. Most railfans will appreciate what he has offered, nonetheless!

Environmental Engineering Practice PE Exams
Published in Paperback by Professional Pubns (01 January, 1999)
Average review score:

OK PracticeJust took the test and not too many problems on it match this. Needs more hazardous waste and air pollution problems. Also, there are quite a few errors but you can download the mistakes (at least the ones that they've found) on their internet site. If I didn't pass I'll buy the 101 questions book. I've heard it's pretty good.

Fairchild's Passage
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Forge (November, 2000)
Average review score:

A Tale Of The Old West - Well Worth ReadingFairchild's Passage is an engrossing tale of the West; but not the romaticized Louis L'Amour's West. This is a harsher, more realistic story of a wagon train heading to Oregon and of the hardships encountered. The characters are interesting and well defined; their situations are basic, difficult, and (at times) horrible. I suspect that this is what the Old West was really like. This book definitely held my interest; I only wish it had continued for a few more chapters; there were additional problems in the story that needed (in my opinion) to be resolved. But I would recommend this book to a friend. If you like Westerns, you'll like this book.

Fierce Blessing: A Journey into Alzheimer's, Compassion, and the Joy of Being
Published in Paperback by Prairie Divide Productions (April, 2003)
Average review score:

Highly recommendedIf you are a family member dealing with Alzheimer's, I would recommend this book. It is sad and yet funny. I could certainly relate to it and it made me feel that I am not alone. My only criticism is that it was hard to follow at times since the writers alternate who is speaking.

Following God: Learning Life Principles from the Women of the Bible (Following God Series)
Published in Paperback by AMG Publishers (March, 1999)
Average review score:

Find Inspiration from the Women of the BibleThis is a workbook styled study of the women of the Bible. Its organized into daily reflections with verses to read and concepts to think about. You cover one woman per week.
I was pleasantly surprised, in that it was written by men so I was expecting a particularly subservient bent to it, but it was not. It portrays the women intelligently and gives us enlightening and positive role models.
Consider the first woman of the bible. Eve, whose reputation isn't exactly favorable, since she got us kicked out of the Garden. However, the study guide leads you through the positive aspects of that trial and tribulation, and lets you take a away the positive and inspirational contributions Eve made to all of us.
I recommend this book for any Woman seeking to further her spiritual self.

French Foreign Legion Paratroops (Elite Series, No 6)
Published in Paperback by Osprey Pub Co (December, 1985)
Average review score:

The ParatroopersThe book from my point of view was great! I found it interesting how everything was explained and the bit of history about the unit was just the last spice to make the book worth reading.. It explains the different tasks of the 2REP wich are the paratroopers of the french foreign legion. Their hard training and tough life is described as well as the requierments of getting accepted.. Even some own stories of the reasons of joining. A great book about the elite force of the legion. Even special unit C.R.A.P.s are mentioned and explained as well as the naval and attackdiverunit the DINOPS... I, as a great admirer of the legion and other elite forces today found this book educational, informative and very well written! It has all and evenmore.. My advice is, as I have read most of the books out there, Buy It!

From the Danube to the Yalu,
Published in Textbook Binding by Greenwood Publishing Group (January, 1973)
Average review score:

General Mark Wayne ClarkThis book should be listed more correctly under Mark Clark, Mark Wayne Clark, General Mark Clark or General Mark Wayne Clark. NOT Mark General Clark. In the forties and early fifties, Mark Clark was as famous as General as H. Norman Schwartzkof. Mark Clark was the best friend of Ike and was one of the great egos like Marine Generals Holland Smith and AA Vandergrift who are forgotten today because no movie like Patton or McArthur or Chesty were made for them. Clark was in charge of Africa and Italy and became the Governor General of Austria during the occupation. Although Ridgway replaced McArthur in Korea, it was the more senior Clark who was called on for the armistice. He never received a fifth star. Most probably because he was blamed for the heavy casualties he took at Anzio. I am too young to know. This is an excellent book. He also wrote "Calculated Risk." He was at Ike's bedside during the last days talking of the old days at West Point. He died in 1984 a couple miles from my home in Northwestern Michigan.
